Upon the Kaymakamlık of Nazareth’s telegram dated 31 May 1909, regarding the monthly tax of half Medjidie taken from the carriages active along the Nazareth-Haifa road
As stated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ letter dated 28 March 1909, a general measure is being considered to be taken so as to provide the requirements of the provincial municipal offices. It is clearly specified in the Constitution that the current laws and legislations, customs and conventions shall be in effect unless they are replaced with prospective laws and legislations or abolished all together. Similarly, an immediate abolition of the said municipal taxes will cause significant inconveniences, such as the violations of various duties of municipal offices. Therefore, it has been explained that the Council of Minister’s decision stipulates that the current taxes be continued to be taken until a general decision is taken on this subject. It is thus appropriate to notify in reply that, on the basis of this telegram, the said tax must be continued to be taken and the accumulated tax claims collected in accordance with the 40. article of the Municipal Councils Regulation.The 23rd of Mâyîs, (1)325 (5th of June 1909).
