It goes without saying that, due to the scarcity of rain this year, each kıyye of wheat has increased to 40 piasters. As a result of investigation, it has been understood that this has stemmed from the fact the merchants buy and hide the cereals coming from outside. As this has been considered a case of profiteering, it would by no means be lawful. Hence, it has been considered by our council that, not only for the merchants but also for the sale of wheat to be dispatched here by their owners, it would be suitable that the cereals be directly transported to the marketplace and that the dispatch of cereals from the pier to other places be prohibited; though, for negotiating this issue and explaining the proper course of action to be taken in respect thereof, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council.
