Since sprinkling the streets using water skins between Jaffa Gate and the municipality’s hospital is not acceptable, wastes too much water, and is inappropriate according to the majority, it has been necessary to substitute this method in an agreeable manner. Accordingly, three machines were brought, and an agreement has been reached with Khawâja Claus the German to sprinkle the mentioned road with his machines in the morning and in the evening as needed. The German will be paid a sum of five Majîdî riyâls for each day, on condition that he employs all the necessary animals on his account, except hauling the water, which is the municipality’s responsibility. The process will be tried for 15 days starting from the 13th of Tammûz (1)325. In order for this to obtain approval, this decision was issued on the 13th of Tammûz (1)315 (25th of July 1909).
