Conrad Schick Library (CSL)

The newest library in the old city was opened early in 2007 in the historical location of the first British Consulate in the Holy Land and the Jerusalem Literary Society.

The library contains about 3000 books including some rare books, for example, the diaries of missionaries from the 19thP century such as the traveller Joseph Wolf, John Nicolayson, 1826-1832; Bishop Michael Solomon Alexander and William Henry Hershler (1845-1930). There are about 500 letters and reports as well as 70 maps, and 4,000 glass plate negatives.

The archives contain the very important books of the hospital – the first hospital in the old city, with information about the exact number of people hospitalised. The archives also include 5 baptismal notebooks (1846-); registry of marriage (1842-); Death reports and burials. There are also many useful photos of the city and maps.
