Scope and content

It is necessary to pay twenty paras for the slaughter of each big sheep as a butchers’ tax. The petitioner has stated that he is not a butcher but a sheep merchant and that he can pay a butchers’ tax for the sheep he slaughters. As a matter of fact, it is unlawful for the Bethlehem administration to lock them up for the payment of the said sum by putting extra 300 piasters in defiance of the legal account. Hence, it is appropriate to notify the Directorate of the Kaza of Bethlehem via a decree that the number of sheep slaughtered by him be examined and a due butchers’ tax be taken accordingly. (Undated).
