Despite the fact that it is illegal anyway to impose and collect tax without permission, it has been understood that the 2,500 piasters included in the budget for the cleaning of the market place and 1500 piasters, which is the salary of a garbageman, have been allocated without permission. As it was later resolved by the Sanjak Administrative Council that these sums and the raises in the taxes taken from carriages must be decreased, it is appropriate to write in reply that 0.6 piasters be taken from a Bethlehem carriage and that the tax to be given by the carriages coming from outside be lowered, as before, to 1 piasters. The 29th of Kânûn awal (1)313 (10th of January 1898).
