Esad, accountant with the Financial Department (Maliye) of Quds, attests that 360 gurush were paid by the treasury of Quds. The sum represents his travel expenses from Quds to Yafa and from Yafa to Quds for financial checking up (teftish) of the documentation (tahrirat) received from Hilmi bey, financial inspector.

Receipt (sened) stamped by es-Seyyid Mehmed Arif, head secretary of the Finances of Quds (bash kâtib-i muhasebe-i Quds-i sherif). Mehmed Arif attests that 120 gurush were paid by the treasury of Quds. The sum represents his travel expenses from Quds to Yafa (12 hours) and from Yafa to Quds for checking up of the finance (tensiq) registers of the qaza’ of Yafa.
According to the correspondence (tahrirat) of Ali Efendi, Head collector of moneys (sertahsildar) of sanjaq of Quds, Osman Efendi was nominated for Head collector of moneys of the qaza’ of Yafa.
Regarding the repair of Yafa Quarantine station 1100 gurush were spent more. The sum will be arranged from the treasury of the sanjaq of Quds for the year 1308.
Altogether 1914 gurush and 10 pare were spent for sending of sums from the treasury of Yafa to the treasury of Quds. The list was certified by a protocol (mazbata) of the members of the Governing Council of Yafa.
The documents in Ottoman-Turkish and Arabic kept in the “Cyril and Methodius” National Library contain valuable material for the study of the social, economic, political and cultural development of the Arab countries from the XVIth to the XXth century.
They also offer a rich material for studies in the field of the Arabic and the Ottoman-Turkish diplomatics and paleography, language research, as well as for special regional and town studies.
