We announce the opening of a Dutch auction (munâqasa) for one million ancient uqqa of wheat and one million and five hundred thousand uqqa of rye. This purchase is necessary for the province (wilâya) of Beirut and [the goods] should be sent to the Hijaz railway in accordance with the conditions set forth by the district administrative council (majlis al idâra) in Jerusalem. So everyone who is interested in this public bid should contact the mentioned council within three days beginning from the date below. These directions (kifiya) were announced on this basis on the 26th of Tammûz (1)310 (7th of August 1894).
