Given the problems concerning the fare which occur between passenger and carriage drivers (arabjiyya) going to the houses outside the [Old] City, the consultation which took place came to the conclusion that it would be better to fix the rates (fi’at). Accordingly [and] through inspection, it was decided to fix an hourly fare of eight piasters according to the current market value (darij al band). And in order to notify all the carriage drivers and announce the directions, this decision was taken on the 14th of Mayîs 1308 (26th of May 1892).
