Since the thirty six pieces of axes and grapples (bâltah wa qânjah) cannot be used without wooden handles, it has been decided accordingly to bring one of the carpenters; Shimûîl Ghîrd the carpenter, with whom a contract was concluded [to pay him] twenty five piasters for each five handles. [Thus,] the whole amount was four hundred and fifty piasters. Accordingly, it has been decided on the council level to pay to the above-mentioned the amount recorded which is to be paid in installments from the municipality treasury in Jerusalem. In order for this to be clarified, this decision was taken on the 30th of Mâyis (1)311 (11th of June 1895).
The handle of the grapple should be three futûra∗ of beech, while the handle of axe should be two fitr long of wood.
