This is to announce to all tourist guides (?) (tarâjuma al siyâh) that it is obligatory to obtain a license from the municipal council in order to exercise this profession. And according to the documents / instructions issued by the exalted province (wilâja) of Beirut, if a tourist guide from Jerusalem is seen in Beirut without having a license in hand, he will be apprehended and forced to stop working. Therefore it is obligatory for all tourist guides to obtain the mentioned license within ten days of the below date. When this period it over and one of the tourist guides is found without a license, he will be forced to stop working and will be fined. We warn you not to violate (these rules). And in order for this to be known, these directions were published on the 3rd of Kânûn thâni (1)313 (15th of January 1898).
