It is necessary to nominate two guards to guard the stores on the road behind the Manshiyya which leads to the Consulate of France located on Jaffa road, as well as hang and lighten up three lanterns. The owners of these stores have a contract (stipulating) that they have to pay the needed expenses. Accordingly it has been decided to write to the owners of those stores and request 230 piasters from them monthly which will be taken by the taxfarmer. The guards’ salaries and the cost of the lighting of the mentioned lanterns will be paid from the municipal treasury month after month starting from the time of their appointment and lighting. In order to proceed, this decision was taken on the 4th of Tammûz (1)316 (17th of July 1900).
