National Archives of Armenia (HAA)
Creation in 1923. Information available here: http://www.armarchives.am/en/content/17/
In 2003, the National Archives of Armenia (NAA) were subjected to new classification because various regional Archives in Armenia joined them. As a result, 2070 fonds were created. But before the archives reunification, the NAA held were more than 500 fonds, referred to as the “old fonds”. There is a printed copy of the NAA's old fonds ,and a correspondence between old and new numbers had been made : for instance fond n°497 (old number) becomes fond n°1421 (new number). For some fonds, old number matched with the new one.
Here is how the classification system is organized :
Every fond has its unique title and number, for example n°56, ''The Saint Apostolic Synod of Etchmiadzin''.
Each fond has sections, which is ցուցակ in Armenian (translated as LIST). So each fond could have one list/section, or could have many lists/sections, for example the fond n°56 has 19 lists/sections : it is the largest fond of the NAA which holds 86011 documents. Especially every list/section of fonds has one or sometimes more annotations volumes.
Every list/section has its files which is in Armenian գործ (translated by the word “case”). And every list/issue/case has its title, which is written in the volumes of annotations. It is worth to know that the annotations of volumes of the fonds do not describe each archive document, they compile only the title of each list/issue/case.
Into the cases we have either documents, or pages : sometimes the classification of documents goes with the number of documents, but it mostly goes with pages.
