Attribution of slaughter taxes in Old City, 24 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 12 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

Since the period of publication of the [public sale of] slaughter taxes (rusûm dhabhiyya) in Jerusalem itself expired, it was decided [to settle] for the gross (OR: secured ?) (sâgh al mîrî) sum of thirty-one thousand and five-hundred qirsh promised by Baha Al Dîn Al Aklîk with the guarantee of his father Khalîl Aklîk and Abdullatif Effendi Nusseibeh. Accordingly it was decided on the council-level to transfer [the task] for the mentioned sum to the pledging registered (marqûm) taxfarmer (multazim) with the guarantee of the registered [persons ] and to free the [responsible] officer (mâmûr) of this charge until the transfer [has taken place]. In order to confirm this [OR: the above] this decision was taken on the 12th of Mârt (1)308 (24th of March 1892).

Nomination of person in charge of washing corpses at municipal hospital, 24 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 12 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

When one of the patients dies in the hospital, it is difficult to find persons to wash (the corpses), and because of that the burial is usually delayed. Therefore the council has decided to appoint an officer for this task. Ibrâhîm Zahbki has the necessary qualifications, and so he has been nominated from the 13th of the month of Mart (1)308 with a monthly salary of three Mecidi liras (riyâl majîdî). In order to confirm (?) this, this decision was reached on the 12th of Mârt (1)308 (24th of March 1892).

Public bid for army supplies in Al Zûr, 19 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 7 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

We announce that the yearly food and fodder supplies (arzâq) for the imperial soldiers (asâker shahânîa) located in [Dayr] Al-Zûr is proposed for a public bid (munâqasa) from the beginning of Mart 1308 and in accordance with the conditions upheld by the council. So everyone who is interested in the public bid should contact the council. This public bid will remain [open] for two days from the date [of its announcement]. And in order for this to be known, these directions (kîfîya) were published on the 7th of Mârt (1)308 (19th of March 1892).

Public bid of animal, slaughtering and slaughterhouse taxes in Bethlehem, 28 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 16 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

We announce that the butchers tax (rusûm al dhabhiya), the livestock sales tax and the slaughterhouse tax in the city of Bethlehem are proposed for a public bid (muzâyada) for _____ (1)308. The butchers tax has been set at two thousand six hundred piasters, the livestock sales tax at two hundred piasters and the slaughterhouse fee at eight hundred piasters, for agreement by the bidders. The public bid for the mentioned taxes will be announced for eleven days from the 27th of March (1)308 at 10 o’clock, according to the rules. And non-working days during this period are considered part of it.
So everyone who is interested should inform the municipal council in Jerusalem. And in order for this to be known, this matter was announced on the 16th of Mârt (1)308 (28th of March 1892).

About renovation of police prison cells, 21 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 9 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

Fail of public bid relating to repair work relegated to the Sankaj Administrative Council: The costs of this requested reparation were opened to bidding and in accordance with the survey report enclosed herewith, it was understood that the estimated cost was at an appropriate level. For this reason, no bidder cut the price. As it was understood that it would be more proper for this reparation to be undertaken on government account, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council for discussion. Budget matter relating to street works relegated to the Sanjak Administrative Council, 19 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 7 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

It has been understood from the marginal note written by Public Works Engineering Office that there was a need for 60,000 piasters (piasters) for the reparation and leveling of the aforementioned macadam and in the budget for the year 1892-1893 (1308), only a fund of 50,000 piasters was allocated for all the roads outside of the district (kaza) of Jerusalem. It is appropriate to relegate the matter to be discussed by the Sanjak Administrative Council in order for this fund to be either wholly spent for the reparation and improvement of the aforementioned macadam or to reserve only the half amount of this fund for the reparation of the road in question and to spend the rest of the money for the reparation of other roads. Public bid for rental agreement for Hotel Bab al-Wad, 28 March 1892 (Gregorian calendar) - 16 Mârt 1308 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

We announce that the rental agreement for the Hotel at Bâb al-Wad ‘Ali which belongs to the municipal council (is up for a public bid). This would be for one year from the beginning of Mart (1)308. And in agreement with the bidders (kaf yad) its amount has been determined at the level of thirteen thousand and fifty piasters according to the official currency (sâgh al khazîna). It has been decided to enact (?) this after four days starting from the 16th of Mart (1)308 at 10 o’clock.
So everyone who is interested in this public sale should inform the city council in Jerusalem. And in order for this to be known, this matter was announced on the 16th of Mârt (1)308 (28th of March 1892).

No one showed any request to the auction for the rental price of the slaughterhouse opened by way of livestock sale tax (bac-ı hayvan) and butchers’ tax (zebhiye), two of the tax income sources of Bethlehem for the year 1892. As the ascertained legal period has expired, it is appropriate to relegate the matter to the Sanjak Administrative Council to organize a tender. The 28th of Mârt (1)308 (9th of April 1892).
