Khawâja Ilyâs Yûsuf Al Mûsilî, a tax farmer of intestines for the first of Rajab (1)321, has committed to dispose the sum of 6,955 piasters that has been registered to him. However, he tried to evade the payment by claiming that this sum should be paid by the butchers, but on the 28th of Kânûn Awwal he was given the same answer. A memorandum has been sent to the district to collect the mentioned sum with the knowledge of the Consul of Great England, with which Khawaja Ilyâs is associated. Upon reading the request, presented from the registered person by the mentioned consulate, it has become clear that he said he will pay the money to the council's treasury after he takes his claims from the butchers. However, it turned out that the claims were too big, the butchers did not have to pay the mentioned funds, and his claim was only to evade the payment. Accordingly, the council decided to file a lawsuit against the Khawâja at the court of first instance, with the knowledge of the council's under-secretary Jiryis Effendi Jawhariyya. In order to pay the allocated fees related to the lawsuit from the council's treasury, this decision was issued on the 22nd of Shubât (1)321 (7th of March 1906).
