It has been decided by the Municipal Council and ratified by the Sanjak Administrative Council that, on the purpose of preventing any congestion in the narrow streets and markets, a special place be constructed for peasant women coming to the city for selling vegetables and fruit within baskets and sacks. Thereupon, a convenient land located near Bab-al-Halil has recently been rented by the municipality, covered with wood and zinc, and it has been prohibited since then for the said women and the like to sit at the markets. From those wishing to sit and sell their products at this place constructed by the municipality, 10 paras are being taken from each basket and 20 paras from each sack in exchange of the rent price. The petitioners stated that they have been damaged due to this situation and demand that a permission be given for the women coming to sell their products to sit at the markets, as was the case before, or another place be allocated to them within the city.
