According to articles six and seven of the instructions of the Chamber of Deputies' elections, a census of all Ottoman males living in Jerusalem is needed in order to be used as a basis for the upcoming vote. In order for this to be carried out, 90 scribes? are needed to copy the mentioned ledgers in the assigned time. Accordingly, six scribes were appointed, for a salary of 900 piasters according to the official currency, in addition to the 200 piasters, given to the Census Department. In order to pay the mentioned sum from the council’s treasury in Jerusalem, this decision was taken on the 6th of Aylûl (1)324 (19th of September 1908).
