Scope and content

We announce that it was written in the official newspaper of the province of Beirut that in the village of Sh‘ib which belongs to Acre, a camel was slaughtered and its meat sold. Seven individuals who ate its meat died and 110 individuals got sick. The consumption of camels’ meat is not allowed before sampling by health officers; the occurance of such painful events should shows the fatal danger. All camels which are slaughtered and did not obtain a permit from the mentioned health officers attesting that their meat can be eaten, should be avoided for fear of the events we warned about. Therefore these directions were published on the 17th of Shubât (1)322 (2nd of March 1907).
