Scope and content

Based on the motion to include the area outside the Old City in sweeping and lighting services, there has been an approval by the district administrative council, with a decision dated on the 25th of Kânûn Awwal (1)320 bearing the number 220. Accordingly, the council has decided to have 200 to 300 lanterns made. After meeting the contractors and holding a Dutch auction, it has been decided that each lantern should be made for a price of 22 piasters dârij al band by master ‘Ezra Al Halabi and his partner ‘Ezra Al Qazrî, both of whom are Jewish. (This will be done) according to the model (?) kept in the council. Since all of this has been approved by the council’s treasury, it has been decided to have the mentioned amount of lanters made by the two mentioned contractors. They have promised to give 100 lanterns by the end of the month of Shubât (1)320 and to give the rest gradually until the end of the month of Nîsân (1)321. In order to establish the needed contract with the registered contractors, begin the work and pay what is needed from the council’s treasury, this decision was taken on the 27th of Kânûn Thânî (1)320 (9th of February 1905).
