Since it has been found that Mahmûd ‘Aghâ the son of Abdullah is fit and ready to do the job of municipal guard, and in accordance with the [decided] budget [included] the appointment of six municipal guards. Accordingly, it has been decided on the council level to appoint the aforementioned as the sixth municipal guard from the sixteenth of Tammûz (1)315 with a decided salary that amounted to two hundred and fifty piasters (sâgh al-mîrî). In order for this to be approved, this decision was taken on the 7th of Tammûz (1)315 (19th of July 1899).
