Part of Registers of Jerusalem Municipality Council during the Ottoman period
Upon the letter, dated 11 June 1900 and numbered 53, by the Directorate of Bethlehem
As a result of investigation, it has been understood that the great quantity of soil and gravel accumulating as a consequence of the stone pit opened on the land belonging to the person named İsâ al Karûd from Bethlehem must have been left by the labourers working on the land, which is adjacent to it, and belongs to the persons named Hana al İlyâs and Abdulahad bin Musa. Hence, it has been understood from this letter and two petitions attached to it that the Bethlehem Municipal Council has decided that 3.5 piasters French liras be collected from the persons named al İlyâs and Abdulahad bin Musa, and that it be given to İsâ al Karûd for the purpose of removing the said inconvenience, and that İsâ al Kârud be held responsible for the removal of soil on his land. Although it seems that it is necessary to implement the decision taken by the local municipal council for the removal of the said danger and convenience, notification of taking due action in respect thereof is left to the mutasarrifate’s decree. The 7th of Huzayrân (1)316 (20th of June 1900).
