About building construction, 10 July 1895 (Gregorian calendar) - 28 Huzayrân 1311 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

Hacı Hüseyin El Topçu Effendi demanded that a license be granted to build some buildings on a land which he claims to belong to an endowment of his ancestors. This land, which has some ancient ruins and a cistern on it, is located at Damascus Gate and adjoint to the city walls. It is doubted that a mosque is present on the property and it is probable that the plot and the cistern are related. Therefore, the requested permit has not been given and it is appropriate to refer this matter to the Board of Education and Accounting Office for Foundations for further investigation. About building permit in Shaykh Badr village, 18 March 1899 (Gregorian calendar) - 6 Mârt 1315 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

In accordance with the request by Mrs. Margaret Alice Brilen Requesting a permit to build a fence to encircle her land located next to al-Shaykh Badr, the inspection was done twice. It has prevailed that the land is surrounded by three roads; the first that leading to 'Ayn Kârim village with six and two third cubits (dhirâ’) wide, the second- the old road leading to Jaffa with eleven cubits wide, and the third- the new road leading to Jaffa with twelve cubits wide. After considering [all this], it has been decided that it is necessary to widen the road of 'Ayn Karim up to fifteen cubits, [therefore] it is necessary that Mrs. Margaret leave four and a half third cubits of her land [on this road direction]. In order to widen the current road of Jaffa up to fifteen cubits too, it is necessary to leave one cubit and a half. Given that the old Jaffa road is assigned for horse riders and transportation of goods, it has been determined to widen it up to twelve cubits, and therefore only half a cubit is to be left of her land. In order to give the permit in accordance with the directions written [above], this decision was taken on the 6th of Mârt (1)315 (18th of March 1899).

About buildings regulations, 8 February 1902 (Gregorian calendar) - 26 Kanûn Thânî 1317 (Ottoman fiscal calendar (Rumi)

Even though there is a regulation dated 30 August 1881 entitled as the Public Buildings Regulation which has been in effect there thus far, it has been observed that there is an other Public Buildings Regulation dated 23 August 1891, printed in the eighth page of a periodical named “Mâ-ba‘d-ı Lâhıka-i Kavânîn”. A comparison of these two regulations showed a great deal of difference in their provisions and the amount of building tax to be taken by the municipality. The new regulation has not been sent and notified to our council yet; it would thus be appropriate to search the records of the Correspondence Office, to replicate a copy, if there is any, of the record of the said Public Buildings Regulation dated 23 August 1891, to find out the date and number of the decree by the Ministry of Internal Affairs with which it was notified, and to report the matter to the Ministry of Internal Affairs if no record can be found, and to demand a few copies. The 26th of Kânûn Thânî (1)317 (8th of February 1902).
