Meclis-i Vala Evrakı

The Imperial Council of Legal Affairs (Meclis-i Vala-yı Ahkam-ı Adliye ) was founded as the assembly of reforms in 1838 after the Supreme Council and the Consultation Assembly (Meclis-i Meşveret) lost their functions and charged with conducting the Tanzimat’s reforms and innovations. This series includes documents related to the correspondences of the assembly and to the decision made by the assembly. In it, there are a lot of documents regarding any sort of change in the state institutions in the Tanzimat Era and de novo organisation of the state. Moreover, the application of the reforms and the difficulties that were faced could be monitored easily from these documents.

Dahiliye Nezâreti Sicill-i Nüfus İdare-i Umumiyesi Tahrirat Belgeleri

This sub-series includes documents and information regarding assignments to the birth registration offices; lists in tabulated forms sent to birth registration offices; documents related to the birth registration; passports procedures; census; list of incidents peculiar (specific?) to the provinces, subdivisons of a province (sub-province = sandjak) and towns; and populations statistics.

Dahiliye Nezâreti Muhaberât-ı Umumiye İdaresi Belgeleri

After an improvment in local administration in 1909 (1327) the Correspondence Office duties (Dahiliye Nezareti Mektubi Kalemi) have been made over to the General Correspondence Office (Muhaberat-ı Umumiye Dairesi). Therefore, correspondence between the Ministry and the other ministries or provinces as well as official letters, telegraphs, petitions and reports over various subjects are, from this date, filed into this series.

Dahiliye Nezâreti Sicill-i Ahval Defterleri Fihristi

This is a register group resulting from the work of Employee Registry Commission (Sicil-i Ahvâl Komisyonu) founded during the rule of Abdulhamid in 1878. These registers may include short biographies of all the civil and judiciary officials. There are registers of 92.000 officials from 1879 to 1909, including their names, nicknames or identity records, fathers, families, inaugurations, educational levels, achievements and skills, dismissals or appointments or judgments and, if non-Muslim, their nationalities.

Sadâret Teşrifat Kalemi Evrakı

This series includes the invitation letters prepared for the assembly and ceremonies as well as protocol lists; congratulations sent for special days and appointments like Bairam and Christmas; and the brief notes given to the Office of Imperial Protocol (Teşrifat Kalemi).
