Report from Russian minister in Constantinople A.P. Bouteneff to Russian foreign minister A.M. Gortchakov, February 1st, 1858

Creation of the Russian consulate in Jerusalem for protection of Russian subjects and relations with Ottoman administration;
Opinion of Jerusalem's Patriarch on this event: he thinks that only Russia doesn't have consulate in Jerusalem, but it's necessary for the effective activity of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission and assistance for Russian pilgrims; Russian agent in Jaffa Marabuti is transfered to Jerusalem in the new consulate.
