Missing English title

This subseries includes correspondence between Yıldız Palace and embassies, Consulates and the attaches’ offices. There are also writings directly sent by the embassies, consulates and attaches’ offices to the court; documents directly sent to the court by the committees, companies and similar organisations abroad; and documents sent by the Counsellor, interpreter and Acting ambassador at the embassies with their own stamps to the Private Secretariat of the Sultan head clerk.

Inspectorship and Commissariat

This subseries includes documents regarding Rumelia Province Inspectorship and Rumelia provinces; the official writings of the Inspectorship and Commissariats; the writings of the staff at Egypt Fevkalade Commissariat, Bulgarian Commissariat, Inspectorship and Commissariat as well as reports and rough drafts.

Sultan’s diplomatic and protocol correspondence

This subseries includes the letter-like documents written to the sultan and on behalf of him; letters written by the prince, kings, emperors and other state presidents to the sultan through Palace Secretariat Başkatipliği, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies and the letters written by the sultan; the sultan’s letter of thanks and congratulations to his relatives and others on the occasions of (accession to the throne), bairams, condolence, and so on.

Military Affairs

These catalogues belong to the dates 1246-1316/1830-1899 of the Section of the Daily Documents of Yıldız Palace and contain the correspondences between the military offices and Yıldız Palace. In the catalogue with 10777 documents, there are usually correspondences with the offices charged with military problems, such as Office of the Minister of War, the Ministry of War, the Ministry of Marine and Imperial Arsenal of Ordnance and Artillery.

Palace Secretary Head-clerkship

The tables prepared by the Palace Secretary occupy an important place in the Yıldız Daily Documents’ section. 15754 tables, prepared for different purposes between 1295-1328, lists, envelopes, (the condensed reports drawn up at the Porte for submission to the Sultan) and similar documents are brought together in this catalogue. Pertaining to the record of telegraphs, dispatches, petitions and letters presented in an official and personal style, these tables and lists were arranged in different forms for the type of procedure, the office to which they were sent, and special days, thus revealing the working styles of the Palace Secretary Head-clerkship (Mabeyn Başkatipliği).

Educational Affairs

This subseries includes documents and correspondence between Yıldız Palace and the Imperial Press (Matbaa-i Amire), Imperial Meteorological Observatory (Rasathane-i Amire), Imperial Museum (Müzehane-i Amire), libraries and schools.

Financial Affairs

This subseries includes bills and letters of Public Debts Commissariat to the Ministry of Finance; income and expense lists of Ministry of Finance; petition of the Directorship of Istanbul Quay Company (İstanbul Rıhtım Şirketi İdaresi); tables showing the provincial budgets; general budget summaries prepared by the Ministry of Finance and presented to the Babıali; inquiry reports of the finance inspectors sent to the provinces; income and revenue notebooks arranged by the Council of Public Debts Administration (Düyun-ı Umumiye İdare Meclisi); and correspondences with the Directory of Monetary Affairs (Meskukat İdaresi) and the Duty Office as well as Imperial Ottoman Bank (Bank-ı Osmanî) requests.

Foreign documents sent to the Sultan

Covering the dates 1267-1327/1850-1909 and consisting of 6485 documents, this catalogue includes the petitions and journals written to the sultan in a foreign language, the original documents without their translations and the documents in their translations though their originals are absent. Also, it has the bills presented by the foreigners in various subjects; the foreign companies’ petitions including their offers; the invoices and manifestos; the translations whose interpreters are unclear; the unsigned official letters that are interpreted; the writings in a foreign language that are not interpreted; and the printed documents in a foreign language, some interpreted and some not.
