Because of dust, the council has decided to sprinkle the carriage road from Jaffa Gate, until the municipal hospital. Accordingly, taking out and sprinkling the needed water has been proposed for Dutch auction, for a sum of 20.5 piasters for each skin of water. Around 200 water skins have been sprinkled on the 5th of Mâyîs. Starting from the 16th of the same month, around 600 water skins will be sprinkled. In order to discuss the sprinkling and make an inventory of the water skins, two people have been appointed as supervisors, Muhyî al-Dîn Effendi al-Khatîb, on the the 5th of Mâyîs and Ibrâhîm Lawrence Effendi on the 16th of Mâyîs, for a monthly salary of 10 majîdî riyals for each of them. Accordingly, this decision was taken on the 26th of Mâyîs (1)313 (7th of June 1897).
