The road leading from the Syriac Convent (Dâr al-Siryân) to the glorious Austrian Consulate (dâr qunsûlâtû) is ruined, [full of] mud that piles up because of rains, and an amount [of money] is [already] assigned in the budget. Accordingly, the council has decided to improve and repair the [above-] mentioned road with the knowledge of one of us, the respectable al-Hâj Hasan Effendi, Shlomo Effendi and [municipal] engineer ‘Ibrâhîm Effendi, and to buy four hundred cube meters of pebbles [for the] price of two thousand that were decided in favor of the contractor of the (hasibkhânah) road, and to dig tunnels and level [the road] honestly and as it should be done. In order for this to be approved, this decision was taken on the 8th of Tishrîn Thânî (1)310 (20th of November 1894).
